Brad Singleton has praised Wigan’s mixture of coaching staff in what he is hoping will help bring the side success in 2022.

The 29-year-old revealed that new head coach Matt Peet was a major influence in his move to Wigan in 2020.

The former Leeds and Toronto forward signed a three-year deal with the club and was a part of the side that lifted the League Leaders’ Shield that season.

In 2021, he went on to make 22 appearances for the DW Stadium side, crossing for three tries.

Now preparing for the 2022 season, Singleton says he is excited for what is to come under the coaching staff at Wigan.

Brad Singleton on working under Matt Peet

“I enjoy Matty (Peet). He’s a very smart, intellectual bloke,” Singleton told Love Rugby League.

“He’s very philosophical. He’s got this group together, he’s got us quite tight. For me personally, I know he played the game as a prop. So I enjoy the coach relating to the front rowers.

“And to me personally, he’s probably the one that steered me towards Wigan when I when I was at the disaster at Toronto. He’s the person that actually pulled me into this environment.

“I’ve obviously never been under Shaun Wane, but from all the boys who have been here for a long time, they can’t speak highly enough.

“They know his systems demand winning. They push you to a point where that’s the only option. There’s obviously evidence there that he does that.”

Sean O’Loughlin and Lee Briers to assist Peet in 2022

Former skipper Sean O’Loughlin enters his second season as assistant coach with the Warriors. The club have also added ex-Warrington legend Lee Briers to their coaching team for the 2022 season; a winning combination according to Singleton.

“I think you can tell he’s really matured into that position. I really enjoy how he speaks and his version of the game,” Singleton said on O’Loughlin.

“He’s done amazing in the game and is probably one of the greatest of all time Super League players. And you respect that and his opinion matters because he’s been there and done it.

“Now he’s a year deep in the experience of being a coach, so I think it just benefits him.

“Then you’ve also added Lee Briers to it. So you’ve got Matt Peet which we’ve spoke highly of, and then you’ve got the experience of Sean O’Loughlin, and Lee Briers. I think it’s just a great formula for a great season.”
