Challenge Cup round-up & fourth round ties
The latest round-up from the Challenge Cup and confirmation of the fourth round ties.
Streamed live on the Sportsman, Rochdale Hornets claimed a 28-12 victory over Lock Lane.
Youngster Ben Killan opened the scoring for the Hornets in their trip to the National Conference Premier Division side.
Further tries from Ryan Forshaw, Sean Penkywicz and Lewis Sheridan saw Matt Calland’s side progress to the next round.
They will host Barrow in round four at the Crown Oil Arena.
Elsewhere in the Challenge Cup
Aired live on BBC Sport on Sunday, Hunslet picked up a 30-4 win over Siddal at the South Leeds Stadium. The amateur West Yorkshire side found themselves down to 12-men, and it was too much against a strong Hunslet side.
League 1 outfit Doncaster progressed through to the next round with a 20-0 victory over Rochdale Mayfield.
Tries from Greg Burns, Alex Holdstock, Ben Johnston and Robbie Storey see them host Whitehaven in the next round.
It was a good weekend for Hunslet sides, as National Conference League Hunslet Club Parkside defeated London Skolars 28-6 at the New River Stadium. They will be rewarded with a home tie with Sheffield Eagles in the next round.
In the last game of the Sunday, North Wales Crusaders defeated Swinton 20-14 at Heywood Road.
Royal Navy continue Challenge Cup run
The Royal Navy will continue their Challenge Cup adventure after an 22-8 victory over NCL side York Acorn at the United Services Ground.
They started quickly with a try after just eight minutes. However, York Acorn started building pressure and got back into it soon after. The Navy then extended their lead just before the break.
The visitors then got themselves back into it, and seemed to be wearing the Navy down. But two late tries made the game safe for the hosts.
