All the highlights from the third round of the Betfred Championship.

Halifax Panthers 8-9 Widnes Vikings

Matty Smith ensured Widnes remained at the top of the table with a drop-goal kick to win the game at Halifax.

In a tense battle at the Shay, the former Super League half-back slotted the one point on 67 minutes to secure a 9-8 victory.

Barrow Raiders 14-6 Newcastle Thunder

Barrow made in three wins in three in 2022 with a 14-6 victory at home over full-time Newcastle Thunder. Tries from Bradd Crellin and Tee Ritson saw Paul Crarey’s side maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Gideon Boafo scored Newcastle’s only try of the game. Thunder have won just once in their opening three fixtures.

Forward Mitch Clark saw a red in the second half for Newcastle for a high tackle. They were further punished and down to 11 when Josh Eaves was sent for 10 minutes later in the second 40.

Workington Town 10-26 Featherstone Rovers

Featherstone continued their 100% record in the Betfred Championship with an away win to Workington in the Betfred Championship. Bailey Gill left the field early on his Featherstone debut with injury.

Featherstone Rovers forward Jesse Sene-Lefao will be sidelined for up to the next 10 weeks through injury.

Batley Bulldogs 4-10 York City Knights

Huddersfield loanee Ronan Michael scored his first try for York in their trip to Batley. Will Oakes also scoring to help his side to a 10-4 victory at the Fox’s Biscuits Stadium.

Dewsbury Rams 12-10 Sheffield Eagles

Dewsbury claimed their first victory of the 2022 campaign with a a 12-10 score over Sheffield at home.

London Broncos 0-8 Whitehaven

Dewsbury claimed their first victory of the 2022 campaign with a a 12-10 score over Sheffield at home.

Leigh Centurions v Bradford Bulls

Keanan Brand and Ed Chamberlain scored two tries each to help Leigh Centurions ease past Bradford Bulls 38-4 at the Leigh Sports Village.
