Challenge Cup on TV: BBC to show women’s semi-finals
The BBC will show the semi-finals of the Women’s Challenge Cup on Sunday, April 24 – a double-header at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington.
The women’s semi-finals will be shown live across BBC’s digital platforms – including BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.
The first semi-final will kick-off at 2:30pm, followed by the second at 5pm. The four sides will be aiming to reach the final at Leeds United’s Elland Road on Saturday, May 7.
The competition is currently in the group stages. Four groups of four teams are competing for places in the quarter-finals. Those ties will be played on the weekend of April 9-10.
RFL head of growth Thomas Brindle said: “This is more good news for the women’s game, and I’d like to thank Warrington Wolves and the BBC for providing both the broadcast platform and the quality of stadia to showcase the skills of some of the best players in our competitions.”
The women’s final is part of a triple-header alongside the men’s semi-finals. All three games will be shown live on the BBC.
Meanwhile, the sixth round draw for the men’s Challenge Cup was made on Monday. Cup holders St Helens start their defence of the Challenge Cup with a trip to Championship club Whitehaven.
Every Super League club apart from Toulouse are in the sixth round. There are three all-Super League ties – Wigan v Salford, Leeds v Castleford and Warrington v Wakefield.
The sixth round ties will take place on the weekend of March 25-27.
