Ben Jones-Bishop: No pressure on Sheffield ahead of Hull cup tie
Sheffield winger Ben Jones-Bishop says his side are looking forward to the test against Super League’s Hull in the Challenge Cup.
Jones-Bishop, 33, made the move to the Eagles during the off-season on a one-year deal from York.
The Jamaica international began his career at Leeds, having made his debut in 2008.
He went on to appear for Salford and Wakefield in the top division before joining the Knights in 2021.
Sheffield face Hull in the sixth round of the Challenge Cup competition, held at Featherstone.
Jones-Bishop says it’s a good opportunity for his side to test themselves against a strong opposition.
He said: “It’s a change of scenery and it’s about trying carrying on what we’ve been doing so far this season.
“We’ve been on a good run recently and playing some good stuff, so we’re working on things and it’s starting to come together a little bit.
“Hull are going to be a strong team. As a Super League team, they’ll be very fit and skilful as well.
“It’s a good test and a good challenge and one where we go in and nobody will expect us to come out with a result. There’s no pressure really. We will just go out there and have some fun.”
“Just go out there and test yourself”
Sheffield, who are part-time, have enjoyed a good start to the 2022 season. Mark Aston’s side have won three from their first five games.
And Jones-Bishop wants the Eagles to take their confidence into Saturday’s clash against full-time Hull.
He continued: “The coaching staff do a great job of getting us ready. We’ve been focusing on ourselves the past few weeks and getting things flowing together. I know a little bit, I’m not quite sure how they’ll line up on their edge but I’m sure I’ll be familiar with a few people.
“We just have to go out there and have some fun and do the best we can and play together.
“We’ve been on a bit of a run. Things are working with the ball and we defended well over the weekend in periods. Just go out there and test yourself.”
