NRL star plays 45 minutes with ruptured testicle
NRL star Chanel Harris Tavita played 45 minutes with a ruptured testicle for New Zealand Warrington against Melbourne Storm.
The Warriors playmaker revealed his injury following the 70-10 defeat on Monday. He is expected to miss up to four weeks of action, having had surgery.
The gruesome injury occurred when team-mate Josh Curran’s knee slammed into Harris-Tavita’s groin,
NRL injury analyst Brien Seeney described it as the ‘toughest effort of 2022’ on social media.
After receiving treatment, the 23-year-old rejoined his team’s defensive line and went on to complete the fixture at AAMI Park.
We’ve got the toughest effort of 2022 – Chanel Harris Tavita played 45 minutes after rupturing his testicle in this tackle. Has since required surgery, will require 3-4 weeks recovery. It was a record-breaking loss for New Zealand Warriors, falling to a heavy defeat to Craig Bellamy’s side. Melbourne ran in 10 tries, scoring 54 points in the second half. The Storm broke the NRL record for points in a half and simultaneously handed the Warriors their biggest-ever loss as a club in the traditional Anzac Day clash on Monday.
Kristian Woolf tipped to be a successful NRL head coach in the future
Former NRL star turned pundit Jamie Soward believes St Helens boss Kristian Woolf will be a successful head coach in the NRL in the near future.
Woolf, 46, enjoyed instant success with St Helens in Super League, and has won two Grand Finals and a Challenge Cup since his move in 2020.
Speaking on the latest Love Rugby League podcast, Soward said: “He’s going to be a (NRL) head coach.
“Kristian Woolf has got a lot of huge wraps over here from a lot of players with what he’s done for the Tongan team.
“He’d definitely be in the shortlist if teams were looking to make a change. What he’s done not only for St Helens, but the Polynesian connection is such a huge responsibility to be able to handle.
“If the Tongan squad love him so much, and they do; that’s a huge wrap to him and his personable skills.
“He’s got a huge wrap over here not only from the players, but I’m a massive Kristian Woolf supporter.”
