Lomax update

St Helens coach Kristian Woolf has not ruled star half-back Jonny Lomax out of Saturday’s Challenge Cup semi-final against Wigan. (St Helens Star)

Lomax left the action earlier in last Friday’s 14-10 win over Salford. Woolf told St Helens Star: “He is going to give himself every chance. He is one of the most – if not the most – diligent players I have ever come across.”

Farrell future

Wigan forward Liam Farrell is out of contract at the end of the season, but he hopes to sign a new deal and finish his career with his hometown club.

He told Love Rugby League: “I’ve been here for so long now and it is all I ever wanted to do and hopefully that can be the case where I stay until the end of my career. I’ve never thought about anything else so hopefully that will be the case.”

Oledzki on new Leeds coach

Leeds prop Mikolaj Oledzki says he is looking forward to playing under new head coach Rohan Smith. (Yorkshire Evening Post)

Oledzki told the YEP: “I have heard some great things about Rohan. He sent me a message the other day and I am really excited for him to get here and to get to know him, sit down with him and work on my game and see where he’d like me to develop. It’ll be great to have him here and I can’t wait.”

Field’s NRL ambitions

Wigan full-back Jai Field had admitted that he would love to go back to the NRL one day, but is fully focused on making a name for himself in Super League first. (Manchester Evening News)

Field told Manchester Evening News: “I’m loving my time at Wigan, but going back to play in the NRL is definitely something down the track that I want to do again.”

Castleford recruitment latest

Castleford coach Lee Radford has revealed the club will look at bringing youngster players in from next season. (The Yorkshire Post)

Radford told TYP: “We need to put some younger legs in the squad. If you look at the 17, on average we’re the oldest team in the competition. That has its pluses in terms of management and experience but you do need some youth and enthusiasm in there as well.”

Agar’s World Cup gig

Richard Agar has been confirmed as part of Samoa’s coaching staff ahead of the Rugby League World Cup in England.

Penrith Panthers assistant coach Andrew Webster and former Samoa captain Frank Pritchard will also join Matt Parish’s staff for 2022.
