Brett Hodgson gives update on Luke Gale & Brad Fash

Hull FC Head Coach Brett Hodgson has confirmed Brad Fash has been taken to hospital following their defeat to St Helens.

Fash came off after just four minutes after picking up a head knock, after a collision with Saints forward Matty Lees.

Hodgson confirmed it was a substantial concussion.

When asked about how he was, Hodgson said:”I don’t know. He’s gone to hospital. The doctors wants to make sure that there’s no serious issue there.

“He is struggling. So it was a substantial concussion as everyone saw, but yeah, hopefully we’ll know a little bit more soon.”

Hodgson also confirms Luke Gale situation

Hodgson also confirmed after the match that Luke Gale was just not selected for the match.

The Hull Head Coach felt as though the pairing of Josh Reynolds and Joe Lovodua had played well together, and decided to stick with them.

He felt as though he had to reward them for that, adding Gale had to earn his place back in the team.

Hodgson added: “It was a selection that I made based on the way we’re trying to build this year, which is rewarding players that have been playing well.

“I thought Joe Lovodua and (Josh) Reynolds together with Jake (Connor), against Catalans were excellent. And Luke’s been out for a period of time.

“So for him just to come straight back into the team, he needs to earn that, like all the players. It was a  similar scenario with Adam Swift and Jamie Shaul on the wing.

“But they were both brilliant, their responses were brilliant. We were clunky. Hindsight would say we would probably be a little bit better we had Galey out there if I’m honest.

“But at the same time, you know, for what we’re trying to build at the club, that was a reason.”
