Keighley Cougars release one as two head out on loan
Keighley Cougars have confirmed the departure of one player, while two have headed out on loan to rival League 1 clubs.
The club has released Robert Matamosi from the remainder of his contract. Matamosi, a current serving member of the armed forces, has requested his release due to an increase in his work commitments.
The Fijian-born winger joined the club ahead of the 2021 season from West Wales Raiders.
Keighley added in a statement: “We would like to thank Robert for his time with the Cougars. We wish him the best in his future endeavours.”
Two head out on loan from Keighley Cougars
Chris Cullimore has joined the Midlands Hurricanes for the rest of the 2022 League 1 season. The hooker re-joined the Cougars from the Hurricanes during the off-season.
He has struggled to break into Rhys Lovegrove’s side and has now returned to the Midlands for the remainder of the season.
Also departing on loan is Myles Tate. He joins team-mates Kian Fisher and Keenan Dyer-Dixon on a season-long loan at the West Wales Raiders.
Joining ahead of this season from Warrington, the prop forward suffered an injury in pre-season and only returned to training late last month.
Keighley Cougars retain a 24-hour recall option on both players following the initial 14-day period of the loan deals.
Contract news at Cougar Park
Head of rugby Andrew Henderson recently put end to the speculation surrounding his future by signing a new two-year contract with the club.
The 42-year-old had recently been linked with the current coaching vacancies at Championship clubs Widnes, Bradford and his former side London Broncos.
Meanwhile, prop forward Toby Everett extended his loan stay from Batley for the remainder of the current season.
Full-back Lewis Young has also signed a new two-year extension with the club, eyeing up promotion with Keighley.
