Jimmy Keinhorst praises togetherness at Hull KR after extending contract
Hull KR’s Jimmy Keinhorst says the togetherness within the squad is a big reason in why he has extended his contract with the club.
The Germany international made the move to Craven Park from Leeds ahead of the 2019 campaign. He has now signed a one-year extension until the end of the 2023 Super League season.
He joins Sam Wood and captain Shaun Kenny-Dowall in furthering their time with the Robins.
Teamwork makes the dream work
“I am obviously pleased to extend my stay here at Hull KR,” said Keinhorst.
“I’m pleased to have signed and to be staying with this group a bit longer. I’m enjoying it with them.
“We get on together and we want to work hard for each other which is a big thing in this game. While things have gotten a bit tough for us in recent weeks, we know that we can stick together and come through it.
“People are happy to be here. They want to stay and see this club improve as well, and do it with a lot of the people that are here involved already. It looks good and the lads who are signed now can put that to bed so we can concentrate on what we’ve got left of this year.”
Things with KR haven’t always been straightforward for Keinhorst. Now 31, he has – at times – had to look elsewhere for game time.
Loaned out to both York City Knights and Castleford Tigers, the centre has also had to play in various positions. This year, he’s played in the back row.
He maintains positive however, insisting he’d play wherever needed to make appearances in a Robins shirt.

Jimmy Keinhorst – Hull KR’s Mr Versatile
“[My time with KR] has been a bit of a see-saw to be honest,” added Leeds-born Keinhorst.
“The first year I was hardly involved in the first-team squad, then we went through a Pandemic for a year and a half when things were a bit static.
“I’ve come back into the fold a bit more recently, so it’s been a bit up and down, but you have to take your opportunity when it comes as a rugby player.
“You’re there to do a job at the end of the day. If you’re asked to fill in different positions, then I’m sure most players would stick their hand up. It’s nothing special but I’m enjoying what I’m doing.”
Keinhorst and co. this weekend welcome Salford Red Devils to Craven Park.
