Brough wants to be Scotland’s most-capped player

Danny Brough says it would be special moment for him to surpass Andrew Henderson’s record as the most-capped player for Scotland.

Brough, who made his debut for the Bravehearts back in 2004, is just two appearances away from equalling Henderson’s run.

The 33 year-old will move to within one of Henderson when he comes up against England tomorrow at the Ricoh Arena.

“Hopefully I can come through these next two games unscathed, play at the World Cup next year and break that record,” he said.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do and something I’ll be proud to do.”

Brough has expressed his excitement for the clash with England. The Huddersfield halfback was born and raised in Dewsbury.

“Anytime I walk the boys out as captain it is a proud moment but it will be really good this weekend,” he said.

“It should be a real tough contest and a real proud day for both team’s families.”

After suffering a convincing 54-12 defeat at the hands of Australia in the Four Nations opener, the Giants skipper is keen for his side to give a much better account of themselves this time round.

“I don’t think we did ourselves justice in that Australia game,” Brough said.

“We were a big rabbit in headlights at the start of the game and got caught with a lot of their smartness.

“They played well in patches but so did we. I think we’re a lot better than what we showed against Australia.”
