Hood wants Scots to disrupt England’s rhythm
Liam Hood says Scotland have to be aggressive and brutal in contact to unsettle England on Saturday.
Hood was one of a number of players who had a good game against Australia, putting in some big tackles, most notably a huge hit on fullback Matt Moylan.
The Bravehearts take on Wayne Bennett’s men at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday immediately before New Zealand’s clash with Australia.
“The key for us is to try and be aggressive and try and knock them off what they want to do,” Hood told Love Rugby League.
“I think that is the right way with all three of these teams. They are the best in the world so I think you have got to go out with that approach.”
Hood, who was born in Bradford, admitted this weekend’s match is the one he has been looking forward to the most.
“It’s a massive game for me individually,” he said..
“I have played with a few of the boys that play for them and against a couple of friends so I am excited to go out there and give it a go.”
England back-rower John Bateman is a good friend of Hood’s and they both hail from the same town.
The Leigh forward said he will be out to put a shot on his mate.
“I am looking forward to it,” the 24-year old said.
“I spoke to him this week about last week’s game and I said it would be nice to get a game against him.
“I played against him for Wigan when I played for Salford and he managed to get a shot on me so I will try and repay that back.”
