Liam Byrne and Ethan Havard extend Wigan contracts
Wigan Warriors have confirmed the re-signings of forwards Liam Byrne and Ethan Havard to new contracts.
Byrne, 22, has signed a new three-year deal with the club. 21-year-old Havard has put pen to paper for a further two years. The forward pair were both part of the 2022 Challenge Cup winning team earlier this year.
Prop forward Byrne had one year remaining on his previous deal. The new contract will see him with the DW Stadium side until at least the end of 2025.
On his new deal, Byrne said: “I’m very grateful to be extending my time at this great club and looking forward to what the future holds for me personally and as a team.”
Having made his debut in 2019, Havard has gone on to be a regular in the side and has made 51 appearances overall so far. His new deal will see him at Wigan until the end of 2024.
Havard said: “I’m really pleased and grateful to be extending my time at my hometown club. Wigan is the perfect environment to help me develop my game and I’m very excited to see what the future holds for me and the team.”

On the new deals, Wigan head coach Matt Peet said: “Liam has developed himself into a lead front rower which is testament to his hard work and dedication. He is a pleasure to work with and is someone we are really proud of. We look forward to seeing him develop further.
“Ethan has a very professional approach to his game and has worked hard to achieve what he has so far. He is very determined to take his game to the next level which is exciting for him and the club.”
