Aston staying with Sheffield

Mark Aston says he is staying on with the Sheffield Eagles as coach next year.

Aston told The Sheffield Star he will remain as head coach and that a new sponsor has come forward to help fund the club.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, the club will survive,” Aston said.

“The club will be here, and I suppose you can also be reassured that so will I.

“The agreement in principle is there, and the pre-planning applications for the new stadium at the OLP (Olympic Legacy Park) will go in within the next couple of weeks.

“The sponsor, as we like to call him, is committed, he is waiting on the green light for his power station, but he is willing to build a stadium and sponsor the club significantly.”
