Drinkwater unsure on future

Halfback Josh Drinkwater is enjoying his time with Leigh but is unsure where he will be playing next year.

Drinkwater joined the Centurions in May, after being released from the Wests Tigers, and has impressed at the Championship club.

Off-contract at the end of 2016, the Australian is open to offers.

“I don’t know what I’m doing yet, that’s the honest truth,” Drinkwater told Love Rugby League.

“I’m a chance of staying or a chance of going back home, just not sure yet.”

With Ryan Brierley and Rangi Chase departing Leigh, Drinkwater has been a handy addition.

The scrum-half set up two tries in the Centurions’ vital 32-26 win over Salford last weekend.

“It was a great win but unless we beat Fev this week it doesn’t really mean anything really,” the former London and Manly playmaker said.

“The game itself was just another level up in terms of the speed of the game and the intensity,”

Leigh take on Featherstone this afternoon aiming to keep their unbeaten streak in the Super 8s alive.

Drinkwater believes Rovers will be up for this game.

“We only just beat them at home last time we played so they will be confident, especially after playing two Super League teams,” he said.

“They get a chance to play another Championship team at home so it’s going to be a tough one.

“But if we want to get promoted we need to go there and get the job done.

“If we can be three from three going into a week off it’s going to give us a good chance of going up.”
