Brisbane and England centre Jack Reed has retired because of shoulder issues.

Reed has had four operations on his shoulders and has been trying to recover from a serious shoulder complaint he suffered this season.

Reed has received medical advice that he won’t be able to play at the top level again.

The 28-year old, who played 128 NRL games and scored 49 tries for the Broncos, made his NRL debut in 2011.

Born in Silsden, West Yorkshire, Reed was raised in north Queensland.

He made his Test debut for England in 2012 and played four matches, scoring two tries.
