Willie Poching ‘up for the fight’ after falling bottom of Super League

Wakefield head coach Willie Poching says he is ready to fight for their Super League status as Trinity fell to the bottom of Super League.

The side were defeated 15-10 away to Hull KR, which left them below Toulouse in the table following their home victory over Leeds.

Both Wakefield and Toulouse have claimed just five wins so far this season, with only points difference separating the two sides. 

Poching’s side next face St Helens before meeting Castleford, Catalans and Wigan in their next four matches. 

They will also face Hull KR again in August, which could be a pivotal game for their Super League survival.

Willie Poching: ‘I’m up for the fight’

“I believe in the players and the group,” said Poching following the defeat at Craven Park.

“Obviously we’re going to have to make some alterations to what we’re doing. But I’m up for the fight and for every battle.

“We have to roll our sleeves up and punch our way out of it, but I’m confident we can do that.

“It was disappointing to lose, mainly how we were in the second half compared to the first.

“In the first half we had good control and field position, made good metres from the backfield.

“We maybe could have finished better, but I thought we had enough about us to win the game, but one play had us all out of whack in the second half.

“I thought our tackle selection was poor and players like (Jez) Litten and (Matt) Parcell tear you to bits off the back of that.”
