Louis Senior recalled by Huddersfield Giants from Hull KR
Huddersfield Giants have recalled Louis Senior from Hull KR with immediate effect.
The winger made the move to Craven Park on loan earlier this month. The deal was initially until the end of the current season. However, he has been recalled by his parent club ahead of the transfer deadline day.
Senior, 22, will rejoin KR for pre-season in late 2022 to begin his two-year deal with the Robins following the end of his contract with the West Yorkshire side.
He has made 36 Super League appearances for Huddersfield, scoring 22 tries. He came through the club’s academy, making his debut in 2018 against Leeds Rhinos.
Senior failed to register an appearance for Hull KR.
The transfer deadline for the current season is July 22. After then, players will no longer be able to add to their squad on loan or permanently. The deadline has seen Mike Cooper make the immediate switch to Wigan.
Hull have also added Will Smith to their squad from the NRL.
Turned down new deal at Giants
Senior came through the community ranks at Newsome Panthers and has also featured for Oldham on loan.
Giants Managing Director, Richard Thewlis added: “Louis has a wonderful opportunity at Hull KR to cement a place in their starting line-up for 2023 which his management company told us a while back he had accepted and we wish him every success.
“We did offer him a deal for next season. But that was rejected in favour of the Rovers which we fully accept as his right and understand his rationale for doing so.
“He is another success story from our academy who has gone on to play in the Super League which brings great credit to our club and shows to all the pathways that we provide do work.”
