Hull KR injury list continues with two more season-ending injuries confirmed
Hull KR have confirmed two more season-ending injuries following their defeat to Wigan at the DW Stadium last Thursday.
As previously reported by Love Rugby League, Will Dagger’s season is over with a ruptured achilles following an awkward twist in the tackle midway through the first half.
Dagger, 23, will now undergo surgery tomorrow (Thursday) and begin his rehabilitation shortly after.
On their Super League debuts, both Charlie Cavanaugh and Connor Moore went down in the loss which saw the side finish the game with 12 men.
Young hooker Cavanaugh dislocated his patella after an impressive debut. The club have confirmed that he will now likely miss the rest of the season and require surgery to correct the damage.
The pair join the long list of injuries at the club. Dean Hadley was recently ruled out for the season due to a shoulder dislocation.
Moore picked up a shoulder injury early into his debut and will miss the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, the club will be without full-back Lachlan Coote after he failed a head injury assessment during the first half against Wigan. Prop forward Albert Vete also misses out with a calf injury.
Hull KR boss provides update
Interim head coach Danny McGuire said: “Charlie Cavanaugh was struggling a bit. His knee was pretty much three times the size it should have been. I think he’ll require some sort of surgery.
“Will Dagger will have surgery the back-end of this week. We play a tough, stupid game at times and unfortunately people pick up injuries and we’re having a tough spell at the minute.
“Kane [Linnett] still needs to tick a few more boxes regarding his contact. The target was always the Leeds game.
“Ryan [Hall] has done some running today and says he feels okay but we still have a fair chunk of the season to go.
“I’m hoping both of them will be available for next week.”
Jez Litten is expected to play half-back against Toulouse on Thursday night. The hooker started at loose forward against the Warriors last week.
Mikey Lewis is now running on the club’s anti-gravity treadmill and will be eased further into full training over the coming weeks.
