Casualty Ward: Dufty potential return, key men back for Hull KR, St Helens blow & Tomkins update
Keep up to date with the latest injury news in Casualty Ward, this week including Warrington’s Matt Dufty, the latest from Hull KR and why Sam Tomkins was missing for Catalans.
Dufty potential return
Warrington head coach Daryl Powell says Matt Dufty could return for their clash against Toulouse this Thursday.
The 26-year-old full-back suffered a foot injury on his Super League debut against Huddersfield.
“He just needs rest and a little bit of treatment,” Powell said. “He just needs to get rid of the pain. Once the pain is gone, then he’ll be fine.
“I think he has a chance for Toulouse. That’ll be down to him and the management of the pain, which is the most important thing.”
Key men back for Hull KR
Hull KR could welcome back four key men for their home clash against Leeds this Friday in Super League.
Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e suffered a dead leg in the 22-16 victory over Toulouse on Thursday.
“Sam Wood had a knock on his shoulder,” Danny McGuire said. “He had an injection and felt okay, but they will both be touch and go for next week.
“Lachlan Coote, Kane Linnett and Ryan Hall could be back next week, and so is Mikey Lewis.”
Wigan welcome back hooker
Brad O’Neill will be available for Wigan’s clash against Wakefield after serving his one-match ban. They will be without Sam Powell for up to a month due to a foot injury sustained in the win over Hull KR.
Daniel Hill shoulder injury Saints
St Helens youngster Danny Hill suffered a shoulder injury in yesterday’s 20-12 win over Castleford. Head coach Kristian Woolf said that Jack Welsby received a few knocks but will be fine for next week.
Sam Tomkins update
Catalans boss Steve McNamara was able to bring back Tom Davies and Tyrone May from injury for their win over Wakefield on Sunday.
However, England captain Sam Tomkins missed out with a knee strain.
