In numbers: Super League round 23 attendances

A total of 41,804 spectators attended a fixture during Super League round 23.

That’s an average of 6,967 across the six Super League fixtures – a decrease of 1,817 compared to the previous round. 

Only one fixture recorded an attendance of over 10,000 during the latest round of Super League action – and that came with a bad result for the home side.

Hull FC saw a crowd of 10,097 for their home clash against St Helens at the MKM Stadium. Brett Hodgson’s side fell to a disappointing 60-6 defeat on Sunday. The win saw Kristian Woolf’s side take another step towards claiming the League Leaders’ Shield.

Elsewhere in Super League

Wakefield recorded the lowest attendance of the round with 3,933 fans witnessing their 30-12 victory over Wigan on Sunday. It was a massive two points on the table for Willie Poching’s side. They now sit four points above bottom-of-the-table Toulouse in the fight for Super League survival.

The Thursday night clash between Warrington and Toulouse saw a crowd of 9,199 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. Daryl Powell was a relieved man at full-time as his side picked up a 32-18 victory, only their eighth win of the season.

Castleford Tigers recorded an attendance of 6,147 for their 18-8 victory over Catalans on Friday at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

Hull KR’s fiery match against Leeds saw a crowd of 8,028 at Craven Park. Rohan Smith’s side claimed a spot in the play-offs for the first time this season with a 28-20 triumph.

Finally, Salford’s televised home match against Huddersfield on Saturday had a crowd of 4,400 at the AJ Bell Stadium. Paul Rowley’s side continued their push for the play-offs with an impressive 33-16 victory live on Channel 4.

A total of 1,088,953 supporters have attended a top flight game of rugby league in 2022.
