In numbers: Super League Round 27 attendances
A total of 69,451 spectators attended a fixture during the final round of the regular Super League season.
That’s an average attendance of 11,575 – an increase of 3,852 compared to the previous round.
It’s the highest for the season, with four clubs recording a crowd of more than 10,000.
The Hull derby at the MKM Stadium saw the highest crowd with an official figure of 16,999 – it was also the club’s biggest crowd of the season. In what was Danny McGuire’s last game in charge of the Robins, his side claimed the bragging rights with a 36-4 victory, despite only naming 16 players for the clash.
Hull’s next best attendance came during round two, with a crowd of 12,673 against St Helens.

Elsewhere in Super League
Leeds Rhinos recorded the next best attendance with 15,418 for their all or nothing televised clash against Castleford on Saturday. Two late tries saw the Rhinos book their spot in the play-offs with a 14-8 victory at Headingley Stadium. They will now travel to Perpignan to face Catalans on Friday in the eliminators.
Wigan saw a crowd of 13,275 at the DW Stadium on Friday for their home clash against the Dragons. Matt Peet’s side maintained their home unbeaten record for the season as they celebrated key workers for the fixture.
Meanwhile, 13,112 attended the Totally Wicked Stadium. St Helens lifted the League Leaders’ Shield following their 36-16 win over Toulouse.
Huddersfield saw a crowd of 5,524 on Friday against Wakefield, which saw the hosts claim their first-ever golden point extra time victory thanks to a goal from Will Pryce.
Finally, Salford recorded an attendance of 5,123 for their clash against Warrington on Saturday afternoon. Paul Rowley handed six reserve players their Super League debuts at the AJ Bell Stadium as they fell to a 32-14 scoreline.
A total of 1,316,973 supporters have attended a top flight game of rugby league in 2022.
