Three coaches nominated for Super League award

A three-man shortlist has been revealed for the Super League coach of the year award. 

Wigan’s Matt Peet has been nominated in his debut year in charge of the Warriors. He made the step up from the backroom team to head coach ahead of the 2022 campaign.

In his first year in charge, he has led the side to Challenge Cup glory, defeating Huddersfield at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He has also finished his first season in charge securing second spot in the Super League table, with a home semi-final sealed.

Woolf and Rowley also nominated for Super League award

Salford’s Paul Rowley and St Helens boss Kristian Woolf have also been nominated.

Woolf, 47, has confirmed that 2022 will be his last in charge of the Totally Wicked Stadium side. The Tonga head coach will return to Australia to join Dolphins as assistant coach for their inaugural season in the NRL.

St Helens claimed the League Leaders’ Shield this season for the first time since 2019.

Meanwhile, Rowley’s Salford have impressed so far this campaign and claimed a sixth placed finish for the play-offs. They face Huddersfield on Saturday in the eliminators.

It is also his first year in charge of the AJ Bell Stadium side. The Red Devils finished the regular season with the most points scored with 700. That included 26 tries from winger Ken Sio.
