Watch: What is the best try of the Super League season?

With the regular Super League season completed and the semi-finals about to kick-off, Channel 4 has nominated 10 tries for the best of the year. 

Nominations include firing Wigan duo Jai Field and Bevan French and Super League’s buy of the season Brodie Croft.

Gareth Widdop v Leeds

Starting Channel 4’s selections is Gareth Widdop’s effort against Leeds in the opening round of the Super League season. The 33-year-old supporting a breaking Matty Ashton out-wide to score.

Cam Scott v Salford

Hull youngster Cam Scott has been nominated for one of the best tries of the season for his solo effort against the Red Devils in February. The centre chipping for himself to beat full-back Ryan Brierley to score.

Corey Hall v Warrington

Another nomination for a centre, this try scored live on Channel 4 came at the Halliwell Jones Stadium as Wakefield defeated Warrington. Jacob Miller started the play on the last, passing to Matty Ashurst before Tom Johnstone assisted 20-year-old Hall.

Mikey Lewis v Salford

England Knights half-back Mikey Lewis has been an entertaining player since making his debut in 2019. At 21 years of age, Lewis is one of the hottest prospects in Super League. This moment against Salford created from nothing.

Jason Qareqare v St Helens

Jason Qareqare is another rising star in the competition. The Castleford winger has been nominated for his solo effort against St Helens where he beat four defenders to race away and score in the corner of the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

Jai Field v Salford

Man of Steel nominee, Jai Field has had an outstanding season at full-back for Wigan. This length of the field effort was witnessed live on Channel 4 which saw Wigan claim the victory in the dying minutes over Salford at the DW Stadium.

Bevan French v Salford

Another full length effort from the Warriors, off-contract Bevan French finished the regular season with 31 tries, the most in the competition. This effort here was against the same opponents as Field’s but in the reverse fixture at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Harry Newman v St Helens

Harry Newman will be hoping to be fit for this year’s World Cup campaign with England. This solo effort against St Helens proves why he is one of the most dangerous centres in the competition.

Brodie Croft v St Helens

Brodie Croft has been one of the buys of the season and has inspired Paul Rowley’s Salford to an incredible year. The 25-year-old half-back is also up for this year’s Man of Steel award. This try is an example of why the Red Devils are currently one of the most entertaining teams to watch.

Matty Lees v Toulouse

One for the forwards, Matty Lees’ four-pointer against Toulouse in the final round of the regular season has been nominated. A team effort that included leading skipper James Roby, centre Konrad Hurrell and half-back Jonny Lomax.
