Rob Burrow: Living with MND documentary to be shown on BBC
A new Rob Burrow documentary will be shown on BBC in October, which follows the Leeds legend and his family as he lives with motor neurone disease.
BBC Two has commissioned a the half-hour Rob Burrow: Living with MND documentary from BBC Breakfast. It will be shown on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer at 7pm on Tuesday, October 18.
The Rhinos favourite was told he had two years to live when he was diagnosed in December 2019.
The documentary takes an intimate look at his life now, as the 40-year-old passed his two-year life expectancy and has survived a global pandemic.
It follows the love and support of Burrow’s family, friends and the wider rugby league community. The documentary shows his wife, Lindsey, who Rob met when they were teenagers, care for him as she juggles looking after their three young children Macy, Maya and Jackson, as well as working for the NHS as a physiotherapist. It will show the huge role his parents Geoff and Irene play to the 24-hour care he needs.
The documentary also visits the NHS staff treating Burrow in hospital in West Yorkshire. Audiences will see his former team-mate Kevin Sinfield, who has raised millions for MND research since his best friend was diagnosed almost three years ago.

Rob Burrow says he was “too many reasons to live”
Burrow’s story is one of courage and never giving up, he says: “I’m a prisoner in my own body. That’s the way MND gets you, the lights are on, but no one’s home. I think like you, but my mind doesn’t work right. I can’t move my body.”
The former England international states throughout the documentary that “he’s not giving in, right until his last breath”; and that he has “too many reasons to live”.
BBC Breakfast has followed the iconic number 7 since his diagnosis in December 2019.
