Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow: Dolphins sign Samoa World Cup hopeful
The Dolphins have made a major statement of intent by signing Samoa World Cup hopeful Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow from North Queensland Cowboys.
The 21-year-old utility back has scored 21 tries in 50 appearances for the Cowboys since making his NRL debut in 2020.
Tabuai-Fidow made his State of Origin debut for Queensland at the impressively-young age of 19.
The speedster was born in Queensland to a Torres Strait Islander mother and Samoan father. He has already represented the Indigenous All Stars and has been named in the Samoa squad for the World Cup.
Dolphins boss delighted with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow coup
Dolphins chief executive Terry Reader said: “Hamiso’s signing is hugely significant to our roster. He adds a new dynamic to our team for the 2023 season.
“The Dolphins have been on the lookout for a real game breaker and there is no doubt that he is just that. He is electric with the ball in his hands. You can see him becoming a cult figure with our fans.
“Hamiso is young but already has 50 games of experience in the NRL, is a State of Origin player and is about to become an international with Samoa at the World Cup.
“We are very excited about what Hamiso will do in a Dolphins jersey.”
Tabuai-Fidow has signed a two-year deal with the Dolphins from the 2023 season as he looks to become Wayne Bennett’s starting full-back.
The Cairns-born speedster will add plenty of versatility to Wayne Bennett’s side, being able to play full-back, wing and centre.
