Adam Hills receives MBE for services to Paralympic sport and disability awareness

Comedian, presenter and Warrington Wolves PDRL player Adam Hills has received his MBE for services to Paralympic sport and disability awareness. 

The Australian TV star received the honour from Princess Anne on Tuesday at Windsor Castle.

Hills, 52, is best known for hosting Channel 4’s The Last Leg. He also presented the channel’s inaugural season covering Super League, with Channel 4 set to broadcast 10 more games in 2023.

He won the first-ever World Club Challenge with Warrington in 2020, defeating South Sydney Rabbitohs Down Under.

The comedian also represented Australia in the first Physical Disability Rugby League World Cup held in Warrington, which was also shown live on the BBC.

Hills was a part of the launch event for the PDRL World Cup with all four teams, England, Wales, New Zealand, and Australia, in attendance. 

England went on to win the title, defeating New Zealand in the final at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. Hills’ Australia featured in the third-place play-off, falling to a 32-18 defeat to Wales at Victoria Park.

Adam Hills: Take His Legs

Hills also shared his journey to PDRL in a Channel 4 documentary called “Adam Hills: Take His Legs”. The 60-minute documentary features his personal, physical and emotional journey to live out his boyhood dream of playing his favourite sport 

Warrington Wolves were the first PDRL team set up in the UK, playing Leeds Rhinos in the first PDRL game ever to be played in the country in February 2018.

The Australian comedian is also believed to be working on a follow up documentary.
