James Tedesco ranks World Cup win at top of career achievements
Australia captain James Tedesco has ranked his side’s World Cup success at the top of his career achievements following their 30-10 triumph over Samoa.
The Sydney Roosters full-back scored twice in the victory and claimed the official man of the match award following an impressive display at Old Trafford.
His performance helped Australia to their 12th World Cup title, and also completed a double for the country as the Jillaroos claimed the Women’s title over New Zealand.
Tedesco has enjoyed a successful career so far, having won the NRL Premiership back-to-back with the Roosters in 2018 and 2019, the latter also seeing him pick up the Dally M Medal. He was also a part of the World Club Challenge winning side that defeated St Helens in 2020.
He represented Italy at the 2013 and 2017 World Cups, and switched allegiances in 2018.
James Tedesco: Hopefully our ranking has gone up a bit now
When asked where the achievement of winning the World Cup ranks, Tedesco said during a press conference: “Probably at the top to be honest.
“To captain my country and to the World Cup, it’s pretty surreal.
“At Old Trafford, wining the World Cup final, not many people can say that. It’s been a special six weeks over here.
“We all got along from the start and to be able to celebrate with a victory after all that, it’s really special.
“The last three years, we haven’t been able to play and represent Australia. So, it was burning for a lot of players to come over here and play.
“Hopefully our ranking has gone up a bit now!”
