Toulouse make Wales half-back their fifth new signing for 2023
Toulouse have signed Australian-born Wales international half-back Josh Ralph for the 2023 Championship campaign.
Ralph, 25, represented Wales at both the 2017 and 2021 World Cups, qualifying through his grandmother.
Born in the Southport district of the Gold Coast, he has played in the Queensland Cup for Easts Tigers and North Sydney Bears.
He said: “I am very excited to join this great club and live this new experience alongside my family. I think leaving your comfort zone forces you to do more in order to be successful. I look forward to the challenge of the coming season and I am convinced that it will be a success.”
Josh Ralph will likely partner Jake Shorrocks in a new-look half-back partnership for Toulouse, following the departures of Tony Gigot and Corey Norman.
Toulouse coach Sylvain Houles said: “It’s to be honest the halfback we were looking for. On the offensive level, he attacks the line well, he shows speed and brings a lot of uncertainty. On a human level, he shows great maturity for his 25 years, he has studied our project well and he has in mind to bring us back up.”
Following their relegation from Super League, Toulouse have seen numerous player departures but are now starting to build out their squad for 2023.
Other new signings include Cook Islands international Reubenn Rennie and Scotland hooker Calum Gahan.
