Jamaica prop Jordan Andrade finds new club on the back of World Cup

Jamaica international prop Jordan Andrade has joined a new club after the World Cup helped him reignite his love and passion for rugby league.

The 30-year-old has signed a one-year deal with League 1 club North Wales Crusaders for the 2023 season.

He has won six caps for Jamaica. Andrade played in all three of their group games at their first-ever Rugby League World Cup this autumn.

The 113kg forward has made almost 100 career appearances for Jamaica, Oldham, Hunslet, Dewsbury, Bradford, North Wales, Oxford and Gloucestershire All Golds.

Andrade said: “After playing in the World Cup it has reignited my love for the game.

“I just want to carry on and North ales Crusaders is the perfect club for me to do that.

“After speaking with Carl (Forster) it seemed like the perfect fit for me and the club is going from strength to strength.”

There has been plenty of recruitment and retention done on the back of this autumn’s World Cup.

Samoa star Tim Lafai, who played in the World Cup final, has penned a new three-year deal with Salford. He made the Super League Dream Team in 2022.

Toulouse have signed Australian-born half-back Josh Ralph for the 2023 season. He has represented his Welsh heritage at the last two World Cups.

Staying on Wales, Curtis Davies has signed a one-year deal with Championship side Newcastle Thunder. The Swansea-born hooker has won seven caps for the Welsh.

Meanwhile in Super League, Leeds have confirmed the signing of Papua New Guinea international centre Nene Macdonald from Leigh on a two-year deal.

Andrade’s international team-mate Ross Peltier has announced his retirement on the back of playing for the Reggae Warriors in their first-ever Rugby League World Cup.

Greece international Robert Tuliatu will be a Newcastle player in 2023 after making the move from London Broncos.
