WRL Student team manager Mark Jones said: “This is a fantastic once in a lifetime opportunity for Student players to play for their country in the World Cup in Australia in 2017.
“Wales Students have been very successful over the last 10 years and are currently ranked third in the world.
“Many of our former student players have also been snapped-up by some of the biggest rugby league clubs in the country and are now making good careers for themselves as a result.
“Do you fancy the challenge too? Then register and see what you can do.”
To be eligible, a player must be studying in Sixth Form, College or University, and either be born in Wales, have Welsh parents/grandparents, study in Wales or have residency.
WRL Students head coach Latham Tawhai is pleased at the progess student rugby league is making in Wales.
“I think the new mini-series being launched is a fantastic concept,” he said.
“It’s exactly what the game at Student level here in Wales needs. Credit to all those who have managed to put this together.
“We’ll (Wales Students) have our first open training day on November 27th in Llantwit Major so this series complements the programme perfectly.
“We’ll have seen a few of the players in a training environment but nothing compares to seeing them in a competitive game.
“With a place in the World Cup squad up for grabs it should provide incentive for some excellent battles.
“I’m really looking forward to it.”
