Hull FC loan Abdull to KR

Hull FC playmaker Jordan Abdull has agreed a season-long loan deal with Championship side Hull KR.

Abdull will join up with Rovers for pre-season training as they begin preparations for the 2017 season.

His performances will continue to be monitored by the club’s coaching staff with a view to him pushing for first-team recognition on his return to FC for the 2018 season.

Hull FC head coach Lee Radford said: “I think it’s a great opportunity for Jordan to go out and get a team around the field on a weekly basis.

“With the competition for places we have at the moment, the assurance of him being able to do that with us isn’t there.

“The opportunity to go out there with Hull KR, make some mistakes on the field, learn how to deal with those and correct them week-in week-out will be invaluable for his long term development.

“Jordan is still only 20 and I think he’ll come back a more mature, rounded player, with halves in our competition now seemingly coming into their peak much later into their 20s. With us having the option of keeping him long-term, we believe this is a great move.

“Kevin Brown is a great example of someone who was far less effective at 21 compared to how impressive he has been these last few seasons, as well as the likes of Luke Gale and Danny Brough who have all blossomed much later.

“Even on our own doorstep, Marc Sneyd is another player who has been given time to learn his trade and we’re really starting to see the benefit of that now.

“Hopefully that is a course Jordan can also take in his career and we’re looking forward to seeing how he progresses in the Championship.”

Abdull has made 19 first-team appearances for Hull FC, scoring five tries. He has also spent time on-loan at Featherstone Rovers and dual-registration with Doncaster.
