Meninga hails his magic men
Australia coach Mal Meninga says it is nice for the Kangaroos to be back at number one in the world rankings again.
The Kangaroos smashed New Zealand today 34-8 at Anfield.
“It’s nice to have that position,” Meninga said.
“Internally you don’t talk about wanting to be number one, but it is nice to be back at the top.
“The pressure’s on us now, but I’m very confident we can handle it.
“It’s a tough year in the National Rugby League, but fingers crossed all these fellas stay injury free and get ready to play for Australia at the end of next year.”
Meninga praised the key Aussie playmakers Cameron Smith, Johnathan Thurston and Cooper Cronk.
“I haven’t seen too many better spines in the history of our game,” the coach admitted.
“They are all extraordinarily good players and always seem to perform when matters.
“It’s a great era for us at the moment, all these great players playing the game. We’re in awe of them most of the time they play, it’s nice to be involved with them.
“They’re building their own legacy in the game. They’re so consistent and so competitive, that’s what builds reputations.”
