I loved every minute of it: Danny Levi reflects fondly on Huddersfield spell

Samoa international Danny Levi said he loved every minute of his time with Huddersfield, but he couldn’t turn down the chance to return to the NRL.

The 26-year-old hooker has joined Canberra Raiders on a two-year deal following an impressive season in Super League with Huddersfield.

Levi made 30 appearances for the Giants in all competitions, helping Ian Watson’s side reach the Challenge Cup final.

Speaking to Canberra’s website about his spell with Huddersfield, Levi said: “It was awesome. I got to go to the other side of the world and travel a bit over there.

“Playing footy over there was very different. It was a lot colder – very cold – but I’m sure I’ll get used to that again (here in Canberra).

“I enjoyed every minute of it, it was an awesome experience. I got to take my family over there so I loved it, but it’s good to be back home.

“Footy-wise, I got to test my minutes out. I got to play 80 quite regularly over there so it was good to know I can get through a full game week in, week out.

“The best part about it was getting to see the other side of the world, travelling and do that sort of stuff with my family. ”

Danny Levi looking to become an NRL regular again

The New Zealand-born hooker, who represented Samoa at last year’s World Cup, made 112 appearances in the NRL for Newcastle, Manly and Brisbane prior to his Super League switch.

And he is hoping to establish himself in the NRL again.

“I haven’t got any specific goals yet,” he added.

“I’m just trying to find my feet here first but one of my goals was to get back to the NRL and play at the highest level so that’s my main focus at the moment.

“It’s been good (here at Canberra) so far. My family are enjoying it, they got here not too long ago and the boys have been welcoming so I’m enjoying it.”
