Jason Taumalolo is our loose forward this week

Jason Taumalolo and Valentine Holmes are flying to the US this week, in order to play in a trial for NFL clubs.

A report in TheRoar.com.au asserts that the pair will be showing their talents in Los Angeles, California, on November 26.

Both players are locked into one more year each at their respective NRL clubs, so the trial is for demonstration purposes at this stage.

The Roar has obtained an NFL Management Council document which reads:

Jason Taumalolo and Valentine Holmes, two of the best players in Australia’s National Rugby League, have scheduled a work out for NFL clubs this Saturday.

“These players are considered NFL free agents and are eligible to sign with clubs after the club has received written permission from the player’s National Rugby League club.”

The North Queensland Cowboys have given their blessing to the 23-year-old Taumalolo, issuing the following statement:

“The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys are aware that player Jason Taumalolo is returning from the Four Nations tournament via the USA where he will undergo testing in front of NFL scouts.

“Jason has done this with the full backing of the club, and in consultation with the player’s management.”

Taumalolo is reportedly being viewed as a potential tight end or running back.

Holmes, 21, was an NRL Grand Final winner in 2016 with Cronulla, while Taumalolo won with the Cowboys in 2015.

At this moment, it is apparently not known how many NFL clubs will send scouts to the trial, though one East Coast club has expressed an interest.
