Coward signs on again at Workington

Workington Town have confirmed that prop Kris Coward has signed with the club for the 2017 season.

The experienced front rower has been with Town since 2007, and played 18 games last season.

Town director of rugby Les Ashe hopes that the player’s experience will help the younger members of the squad.

“Kris is a very experienced prop who’s size makes him very difficult to handle,” he said.

“He will also pass on the benefits of his experience to younger lads in the team including Tom Curwen who has stepped up from the amateur ranks.”

Coward himself is delighted to be staying put with the Cumbrian outfit.

“I’m happy and excited to have signed for the club for my 10th year at the club,” he said.

“I couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else and I hope that having played over 200 games in the Championship I can pass on my experience to the younger players and the lads stepping up from amateur level.

“I’m looking forward to working with Dave Clark and a new group of players. We’ll gel in preseason and build a great platform for an enjoyable season.”
