Houghton wants more trophies
Danny Houghton wants to add more silverware to Hull FC‘s trophy cabinet next year.
The Black and Whites scooped the Challenge Cup by overcoming Warrington Wolves to record their first-ever triumph at Wembley in a final.
Lee Radford’s men were minutes away from reaching Old Trafford for the Super League Grand Final at the hands of the champions elect, Wigan Warriors.
Houghton insists more success is a realistic target having won the Challenge Cup.
“Regarding the team, there’s no reason why we can’t go one step further and go onto the Grand Final,” he said.
“We’ve had the taste for it last season, which brought the memories and we want to recreate it.
“One of our goals next season is to go on and win the Grand Final because, although we had a fantastic season last year, it was a bit of a sour end going out and getting so close yet so far away.
“It will push us on in pre-season to improve and strive for something next season as well.”
“We’ve had the taste for it last season, which brought the memories and we want to recreate it.”
Houghton said he can’t wait to get stuck into the new season, which is only a couple of months away.
“It feels like I’ve not really been away,” he said.
“It feels like we’re still in that game mode even though we’re not. When you’re in pre-season, it’s something that you look forward to because it’s a bit of a slog and a bit of a grind with no reward at the end of the week.
“It’s something that you look forward to and count the days down in the lead up to them games when it starts to cool down a bit and doing what you love, which is playing.”
