Warrington have defeated their local rivals Widnes 28-18 in their festive friendly.

Warrington got the win at the Select Security Stadium without the services of new signing Kevin Brown.

Stefan Marsh got the ball rolling for Widnes in the 11th minute with a try.

But it was Marsh who’s error led to the Wire evening things, Harvey Livett taking advantage.

Widnes took back the lead just before half-time thanks to Ryan Ince.

The score made it 10-6 to the hosts.

In the second half Keanan Brand crossed for the Vikings.

At 14-6 Warrington hit back when Ryan Atkins scored.

But Widnes responded through Liam Walsh to make it 18-12.

Toby King scored next, making it 18-16 with just 11 minutes left.

Warrington finished strongly, wrapping up the win with tries to Declan Kay and Rhys Evans.
