Smith happy with Wire wn
Warrington coach Tony Smith says a number of his young players stood out in yesterday’s 10-point win over Widnes.
Warrington downed the Vikings 28-18.
“it was a good workout,” Smith told reporters after the game.
“And that’s what it is, a physical workout and a competitive workout. Overall I’m pleased. We didn’t come away with any injuries.
“It was a good exercise and a good experience for a lot of young people.
“We wanted to get some conditioning under those boys and they did well. They fared well with that.
“In the second half some of the young guys we wanted to have a decent look at showed us some stuff.
Smith said Jack Johnson, Morgan Smith, Joe Philbin and Harvey Livett impressed him.
The coach believed Livett, who played in the halves and centres, was the man of the match.
“I thought Harvey was man of the match by a long way,” Smith said.
“He was sensational. Really looked class, playing two positions. He’s probably more comfortable at loose forward, which he didn’t get the chance to do.”
