Betts compliments Gilmore

Widnes coach Denis Betts praised Tom Gilmore’s display in the defeat to Warrington.

It was Gilmore’s first game for the Vikings following Kevin Brown‘s departure.

“His kicking game built some pressure and he came up with some good decisions with the ball,” Betts told The Daily Star.

“He is not a baby any more, he is in his early 20s and is a typical halfback – he’s cocky and got great belief in his own ability.”

Widnes started well but were beaten in the final 10 minutes by Warrington, who prevailed 28-18.

“It was encouraging but disappointing at the same time because we fell away at the end,” Betts said.
