The Papua New Guinea RFL have confirmed that Reatau Rau has been appointed as the organisations’s new CEO.

Rau holds a Bachelor’s degree in accountacny from the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia.

He has signed a three-year contract with the PNGRFL.

As well as his work in the financial sector in PNG, Rau has also been involved in rugby league for many years, and has been treasurer of the PNGRFL.

There were 25 applications for the post in total, 17 expats and eight Papua New Guineans applied for the job.

“It’s a different thing now to actually drive the organisation,” Rau told reporters.

“I’m very excited at the new challenge, and I look forward to working with the team here.

“The owners of the game are the people of Papua New Guinea.”
