Championship Round Five: Results and round-up
Toulouse and Sheffield picked up wins in Round Five of the Championship to keep the pressure on league leaders Featherstone.
In Saturday’s game, Toulouse Olympique ran in 11 tries to thump Whitehaven 72-10 on home soil.
Reubenn Rennie, Pierre-Jean Lima (3), Olly Ashall-Bott, Paul Marcon, Craig Richards, Jake Shorrocks (3), Maxime Stefani and Mathieu Jussaume got on the scoresheet for the French side. Former Wigan half-back Shorrocks racked up a personal points tally of 36.
A point was shared in Cumbria as Barrow Raiders were held to an 18-18 draw by Newcastle Thunder.
Jarrad Stack bagged a brace for the hosts, with Jake Carter also scoring. Alex Clegg, Marcus Walker and Nikau Williams scored for Thunder.
Halifax Panthers completed a second half comeback to secure a 20-16 win over rivals Batley Bulldogs.
Fax’s tries came from Lachlan Walmsley (2), James Woodburn-Hall and James Saltonstall.
Keighley Cougars produced a stunning second half comeback to claim the spoils against London Broncos at home.
Rhyse Lovegrove’s Cougars were 16-4 down at half-time but fought back in the second 40 to get the win.
Mo Agoro, Charlie Graham (2), Brenden Santi, Robbie Storey and Keenen Tomlinson went over Keighley. Abbas Miski scored for London after linking up on dual-registration from Wigan.
York Knights secured back-to-back wins thanks to a thrilling 40-0 scoreline at Swinton Lions.
AJ Towse (2), Ata Hingano, Myles Harrison (2), Joe Brown (2) and Josh Daley scored for the Knights.
Widnes Vikings failed to back up their big win over Halifax Panthers on Monday as they fell to a 42-12 defeat at Sheffield Eagles.
Matty Dawson-Jones (2), Ben Jones-Bishop, Titus Gwaze, Brandon Douglas, Matty Chrimes and Cory Aston crossed for the Eagles.
Promotion favourites Featherstone Rovers host Bradford Bulls in Monday night Rugby League, live on ViaPlay Sports 1.
