Powell: We have to entertain

Castleford coach Daryl Powell says the onus on the Super League clubs to entertain the fans.

The 2016 season was described as a poor one by many in terms of overall quality.

Castleford and Warrington are generally regarded as two of the most attractive teams to watch in terms of their playing style.

Powell believes all of the clubs must try and entertain rugby league supporters.

“We’re in the entertainment business,” he told Love Rugby League.

“A, we want to be effective. B, we want it to look like it’s special.

“We want our players to be enthused by playing in a system that gives them something to express themselves and we work on skills consistently, all the time on a regular basis just different types of skills.

“What is the point in doing that if you’re not going to express yourself and use it.

“No point having a tool box you don’t use, you might as well get rid of half of them.

“So for me we work hard on our skill toolbox and players come here we expect them to get better skill-wise.

“For me if you aren’t going to use them, don’t bother with them.”
