Challenge Cup fifth round coverage confirmed with two games broadcast
Coverage for the Challenge Cup fifth round has been confirmed, with two games being shown live by the BBC and The Sportsman.
The mouth-watering clash between Halifax and Bradford will be shown live by the BBC.
The game on Saturday April 22 will kick-off at 7pm, and be streamed live via the BBC iPlayer and on the BBC Sport website.
The two sides are also due to meet on Easter Monday in the Championship, which will be televised live on ViaPlay.
The two former Super League clubs last met in the Challenge Cup back in 2019 when Halifax became the first Championship side in 13 years to reach the semi-finals. They were beaten by St Helens at the University of Bolton Stadium.
Meanwhile, The Sportsman will show Batley’s home tie with Keighley on Sunday, April 23 at 3pm.
The Sportsman showed York’s 24-22 win over Sheffield in the previous round via their YouTube channel.
There are seven Championship teams and one League One side in the fifth round.
League One leaders Dewsbury earned their place with a stunning 32-12 win over John Kear’s Widnes.
The winners will proceed to the sixth round of the Challenge Cup and a possible meeting with a Super League side, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the 1895 Cup.
When do Super League clubs enter and when is the sixth round draw?
The draw for the sixth round will take place on Monday April 24 at 6.30pm, live on the BBC News Channel’s Sportsday programme.
The 12 Super League clubs, including holders Wigan, will join the four winners of the fifth round ties in the draw. The sixth round takes place on May 19-21.
