Hull KR coach Willie Peters took plenty of positives out of their big derby win over Hull FC, with the most pleasing being keeping their rivals to nil.

The Robins ran in seven tries to ease past rivals Hull FC on their home turf with a 40-0 victory in their Good Friday derby.

Ryan Hall bagged a hat-trick for the Robins, with Tom Opacic, James Batchelor, Lachlan Coote and Mikey Lewis also getting on the scoresheet.

Batchelor was sin-binned in the first half but the way the Robins reacted to it and came out on the other side made Peters proud.

He said: “I thought there were periods in the first half when we made it difficult for ourselves. What I loved the most was the zero at the end.

“We had to work hard when James Batchelor went off. There was a lot of toughness and resilience.”

Mikey Lewis and Jordan Abdull enjoyed standout performances in their derby delight.

Peters added: “I thought it was Mikey’s best game to be honest. That’s no surprise playing in a derby game

“Jordan’s game is building nicely. He had a strong pre-season and he’s taken that into the season.”

Peters paid tribute to the travelling Hull KR fans, who played their part of the 20,000-strong crowd in the MKM Stadium.

The Robins boss said: “When we went out to warm up the crowd got behind us. It was loud and your hair stands up, that’s for sure.”

The win sees Hull KR move up to fourth in the Super League table.

The Robins have enjoyed a fine start to the new era under Peters, having won five from their first eight games of the season, including a 40-0 win over rivals Hull, which will no doubt put smiles on the faces of their supporters.
