Morrison and Dewsbury ready to turn the corner

Dewsbury coach Glenn Morrison says his team is working hard and is determined to secure their first win of 2017.

The Rams are winless and second bottom of the Championship table after three rounds.

It doesn’t get any easier for Dewsbury this Sunday when they host London.

Morrison has spoken about the strength of the Championship this season.

“We played the two teams that have been promoted and they’re both at the top of the table so it shows how tight the competition is,” he told Love Rugby League.

“I would really like some points on the board but everyone is working hard and we’re determined to put things right sooner rather than later.”

Morrison’s men began the new season against the Hornets and he admitted it is always hard playing a side who have just been promoted.

“We had Swinton in the first round the year before and they pushed us all the way,” he said.

“They want to prove that they should be in the competition and they came up with the confidence of winning the league below.”

Morrison expressed his frustration at not picking up the win against Swinton, losing by just two points against the Lions.

“I thought we deserved to win,” he admitted.

“Our energy levels and commitment was there.

“We probably should have scored some more tries but we just didn’t threaten the opposition enough.”

In their most recent defeat, Dewsbury were thrashed by Toulouse and Morrison admitted the logistics prevented a few players from travelling which didn’t help their cause.

“We had a couple that couldn’t travel which doesn’t help but overall I think we planned it well,” he said.

“You can count on one hand the games they’ve lost at home over the last three years.

“They’re going to be tough to beat out there.”
