Super League Magic Weekend 2023 shirts

Here’s a look at every Super League Magic Weekend shirt revealed so far ahead of the upcoming event at St James’ Park, Newcastle. 

Newcastle will host Super League’s Magic Weekend for a record seventh time across the weekend of June 3-4.

Salford and Hull KR kick-off the weekend’s action with a 1:30pm start on the Saturday, followed by Wigan against Catalans and Leeds versus Castleford.

The action resumes on Sunday from 12:30 between Wakefield and Leigh, before champions St Helens take on Huddersfield.

Hull’s clash with Warrington concludes the six-fixture weekend.

Super League Magic Weekend 2023 shirts

St Helens

St Helens have paid tribute to their history with their Magic Weekend shirt, with the club approaching its 150th birthday in November.

The kit, modelled above by skipper James Roby, is inspired by a trading card from the early Knowsley Road era in the 1890s, which was part of the Baines Trading Card collection – which itself dates back to the time of the club’s founding in 1873.

St Helens say that the kit’s colour palette has been inspired by this trading card crest which also features on the lower left hem of the shirt.

The club will also wear the shirt during their heritage celebration fixture in Round 25 against Leigh.

Leeds

Leeds will pay tribute to Doddie Weir OBE with a special limited kit for their Magic Weekend clash with Castleford.

Weir was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in June 2017 and later became a mentor for Leeds legend Rob Burrow after he was diagnosed with MND in December 2019.

Weir, who played for Newcastle Falcons during his career, launched a registered charity, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, and £10 from every shirt sale will be donated to the charity, Leeds have announced. 

The 61-capped Scotland international sadly passed away in November 2022.

Huddersfield

Huddersfield will wear their third shirt for their Magic Weekend fixture with Paul Wellens’ St Helens on Sunday, June 4.

Salford

Salford Red Devils supporters can buy the club’s third/Magic Weekend playing shirt for £50.

Hull

Hull have taken inspiration from their annual Hull Fair neighbours, designing a bright third shirt that will be worn at the 2023 Magic Weekend.

Home to Walton Street, it is Europe’s largest travelling fun fair and has been going to Hull every year for over 700 years.

Wigan

Wigan unveiled their third kit earlier in February, partnering with music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.

The side’s alternate kit features a musical notes design, with £5 of every shirt sold donated to the charity. 

The kit has previously been worn in 2023, notably against Leigh in the battle of the borough at the Leigh Sports Village.

Warrington

Warrington announced their Magic Weekend kit earlier in May, paying homage to the iconic Wire jersey design from the 1992/93 season. 

The retro strip, modelled above by Matt Dufty and Paul Vaughan, will be worn by the Wire twice this season – at Magic Weekend on Sunday 4 June and against St Helens at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday 7 July as part of the club’s “retro round”.

Leigh

Leigh will be wearing their special edition shirt in support of autism, with the Leopards partnering with the A Team charity.

The Super League outfit also confirmed that the charity will receive all the profits from the sales of the shirts.

Castleford

Castleford will wear a specially designed shirt that pays homage to former legendary player, Tawera Nikau.

The kit was designed alongside the club’s official kit partners OXEN and Nikau himself. He commented: “It’s a huge privilege!

“I am humbled and honoured. I was totally shocked because it’s been nearly 30 years now since my time at the club.

“To be held in such high esteem by the Castleford fans in general is just a real privilege and I am so proud of it.

“It’s something that me and my family will honour for the rest of our lives.”

Wakefield

Wakefield revealed their Magic Weekend playing shirt earlier in February.
