Swinton Lions have confirmed the completion of short-term loan deals for Salford’s Amir Bourouh and Warrington’s Tom Whitehead.

The pair could feature against Bradford at Odsal Stadium this Sunday in the Championship.

Bourouh, 22, makes the switch from the AJ Bell Stadium on a two-week loan deal.

The ex-Wigan youngster has made five appearances for Salford under Paul Rowley in 2023, with his last appearance coming against his former club earlier in March.

The hooker joined the Red Devils on a two-year deal ahead of 2022, and remains without a deal for next season.

He has also previously featured for Barrow in the Championship this season, as well as representing London Broncos in the capital last campaign.

It is a welcomed addition for Swinton, with both Luke Waterworth and Billy Brickhill having left the club in recent times.

Swinton head coach Allan Coleman has also added Warrington youngster Whitehead to the club.

The 20-year-old follows in the footsteps of Warrington team-mate Luke Thomas, who featured from the bench in the club’s recent 19-12 shock win over Toulouse at Heywood Road.

Wales international Thomas however failed a head injury assessment against Sylvain Houles’ side and will be sidelined this weekend.

Whitehead, a back-rower, made his Super League debut last year against Salford.

Swinton hit by injuries following historic win

Although a day to celebrate for the Lions, their third win of the season came at a cost.

On-loan hooker George Roby took a knock during the historic victory and is likely to miss the next few weeks of action.

Full-back Joe Lowe hobbled off at half-time nursing an ankle injury.

The club also confirmed that playmaker Nick Gregson is also likely to miss next week’s trip to Odsal Stadium due to injury.

Welsh international winger Mike Butt and outside-back Jayden Hatton could both return for the Round 11 fixture.

On-loan half-back Jamie Ellis was not risked against Toulouse due to a muscle strain, having recently joined the club from York on a one-month loan deal.
