Adrian Lam believes his side could benefit from having ‘two more forwards’ as the Leigh boss dissects his potential recruitment drive for the remainder of 2023.

The 52-year-old coach has recently teased at new additions for the Leopards in recent weeks, having impressed in the opening 12 rounds of action in the top division.

Super League’s newest side currently hold a place in the play-offs in fifth position, claiming seven wins so far in 2023 with one of the smallest squads in the competition.

And the Ex-Wigan coach has revealed which department he’d like to add new additions to at the Leopards, looking at bringing in recruits over the next month or so.

“Not just yet, but we’re not far away,” Lam said on potential signings.

“Like I said, we have got a small squad in Super League and we’re going OK at the moment, but we’re always looking to improve that.

“We’re working hard to get that where it needs to be, so fingers crossed in the next couple of weeks.

“I think we could probably do with two more forwards and potentially one half/centre, so we just need to make sure that we get those positions sorted.”

Adrian Lam hails record-breakers Leigh

Leigh claimed an impressive 30-4 over Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium in Round 12 in a season that has seen the side claim their most wins in a Super League campaign.

The recent victory was Leigh’s fourth successive triumph, conceding just three tries along the way with the talk of relegation long gone.

Lam has praised his side and their ongoing records, but wants his players to remain grounded along the journey.

“There’s milestones along the way, our historian keeps reminding us. The last time we beat Huddersfield was in maybe ’83 I think it was,” Lam said.

“We’ve beaten every Yorkshire team was another stat that also came up.

“I think as we go along, we’re breaking some records. I think we’ve had more wins in Super League than before and Josh Charnley has scored more tries than anyone [for Leigh] in a season.

“We understand that and we’re keeping our feet grounded, but it’s important to notice along the way that we’re doing some important stuff and keep working hard for each other.”
