Castleford head coach Daryl Powell was delighted with what he saw from his team as they thrashed Leeds.

The Tigers ran in 12 tries on the way to a dominant 66-10 victory over Brian McDermott’s men.

“It was an outstanding performance,” Powell told Sky Sports.

“I thought all aspects of our game were really good.

“We conceded a couple of softies but I thought we defended really well pretty much all the game.”

Powell was happy to see Greg Minikin and Greg Eden score a hat-trick each but he was quick to point to how well the whole team played.

“They’re both playing well but getting some great service I have to say from the people inside them,” he added.

“Every one of our players were on the point tonight.

“We are just trying to keep our feet on the ground and keep turning up every week.”

With three wins out of three, Powell admitted it is key to avoid becoming complacent ahead of their next match against Widnes.

“Our confidence is strong there’s no question about that,” he said.

“I think the other side is not getting too overconfident and making sure we turn up with the right attitude.”

Luke Gale played a big part in masterminding the Tigers victory and Powell acknowledged the role he played alongside fellow halfback Paul McShane.

“I thought Luke Gale grabbed the game just when he needed to and Paul McShane was excellent too as his companion at halfback,” he said.

“I thought our game management was really good tonight.”
